IRVINE, CA – (October 1, 2009) – Further establishing itself as a leader in the assisted living industry, MBK Senior Living today announced it has been named one of the “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare Magazine.
“It is an honor to be recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the country’s best places to work in healthcare,” said Terry Howard, president of MBK Senior Living. “Every day, our team of over 600 associates strives to achieve our mission of exceeding the quality, service and care expectations of those we serve. We recognize the positive impact that committed and motivated associates have on achieving this mission. This designation by Modern Healthcare is a validation of our progress in creating a workplace of truly inspired people, committed to serving our residents’ and their families.”
Modern Healthcare partnered with Best Companies Group, a PA-based firm that administers “best places to work” programs nationwide. Modern Healthcare conducted this program to recognize outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on a national level. Through its thorough workplace assessment utilizing employer questionnaires and employee satisfaction surveys, Best Companies Group identifies and recognizes companies who have been successful in creating and maintaining workplace excellence.
The program collected information from both the employer and employees, and was open to all companies (providers, suppliers, payers, associations, etc.) with at least 25 employees. Employers completed a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. Employees were asked an in-depth set of questions that resulted in an analysis in eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.
The MBK Senior Living culture is based on the following core principles and values: mutual trust and respect, open communication, teamwork, positive work environment, continuous improvement, honesty, accountability and passion for excellence.
“MBK seeks to find associates who demonstrate these core values and beliefs in their daily interactions with residents, family members and other MBK associates. We consider these core principles and values to be the “cost of admission” into the MBK family and critical to achieving our mission,” said Howard.
MBK Senior Living communities feature different levels of care, from independent living to assisted living and memory care. They offer a variety of service programs that meet the changing needs of seniors while also promoting independence, individuality, self-esteem and happiness. From restaurant-style dining to a comprehensive menu of recreational, social and cultural opportunities, MBK Senior Living communities provide residents with these and many other options for enhancing their daily lives.
MBK Senior Living currently owns or operates eight communities throughout California and Washington, representing over 1,100 independent, assisted and memory care units, and will continue to pursue acquisition, development and third-party management opportunities. Earlier this year, MBK Senior Living was selected by CHP, LLC, to manage Raincross at Riverside, one of The CHP’s Southern California senior living communities. The partnership signified MBK Senior Living’s first venture into third-party management.
“For over 20 years, MBK Senior Living has delivered high-quality senior housing to communities throughout the Western United States,” said Howard. MBK Senior Living communities in California include Raincross at Riverside in Riverside, Grand Oaks in Thousand Oaks, Huntington Terrace in Huntington Beach, Sterling at Vintage Hills in Temecula, Summerhill Villa in Santa Clarita and Casa de Santa Fe in Rocklin. MBK Senior Living also has two communities in Washington, Harbor Crest and Northpointe, both located in Spokane.
